He's the only Origins romance that this applies to, meaning that many fans of his storyline were disappointed by the decision. Despite being mentioned in several war table operations, he isn't even included in any proper side quests as he was in Dragon Age 2. Given how much focus the Origins companions in particular have during Dragon Age: Inquisition, it came as a surprise to many players that fan-favorite character Zevran wasn't given a proper appearance within the game. Others, like Leliana, are more prominent permanent members of the Inquisition. Alistair, for example, will take up the role of Hawke's Warden contact only if he was kept as a Grey Warden in the ending of Dragon Age: Origins as opposed to being made king. In some cases, the role of different companions varies significantly depending on the world state as imported into Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, Dragon Age 4 can, and arguably should, make up for his absence moving forward. While players may encounter references to him in a couple war table missions, he doesn't even make a physical appearance. Notably, however, the remaining romance option, Zevran, was excluded. In particular, three of the romance options from Dragon Age: Origins - Morrigan, Leliana, and Alistair - had significant parts to play in Inquisition's main questline.
